Wedding Reception Menu Cards with Tie The Knot

I am back in wedding land again!  I have been coming up with menu presentation options to present to my future DIL.  I found a post that my friend Donna Mundinger posted at Everyday Cricut last year (HERE) where she used TIE THE KNOT and created great note cards.  I liked the look of Donna's cards and decided to give them a try for myself.

The first thing I did was use my Cricut Imagine and printed two different pieces of cardstock.  I used the Theresa Collins Black and White cartridge (which was a gift from a friends and arrived today!!!) and printed one sheet of white cardstock with a print and one sheet of red cardstock with another print.... Remember that my future DIL has selected red, black, white, and a touch of silver as her colors.

After printing my print cardstocks, I set up a cut file in Cricut Design Studio.  After adding a page which contained two of the criss-cross cards, I added a page of triangles (from George) measured to fit the sides of the criss-cross cards.  After cutting the triangles with the Cricut, I used my paper trimmer to cut each triangle in half lengthwise.

After scoring the criss-cross cards and applying the black and white print to one side of the card and the red and black print to the other side.  I then scored the three folds - one on each side and the tab at the center bottom

Using my ATG, I applied adhesive to the bottom flap and folded in the black and white layer.  Next I applied adhesive to the bottom edge of the black and white print  and folded the red and black side over and sealed.

Next I created the menu inserts.  I used a rectangle from George and welded the shadow of the very pretty M from TIE THE KNOT to the top of the rectangle.  Then using MS SEASONAL ART, I added the letter "enu" and welded those to the capitol M.  The cut on the left in the photo below shows the base cut.  Next I cut the letter M in red cardstock and affixed it over the white shadow cut.

I made a second version of the insert to show to Crissie - one that has a black layer added under the red "Menu". Once the menu cards are completely assembled, we will need to finalize the menu the caterer, print the menu on vellum and affix the vellum to the cards.  Easy and elegant, but also personalized.

Winter blogging blues and Wedding Fun

I do not even need to tell you that I have been a BAD BLOGGER this week.  I had good intentions, but they did not grow into good results.  I think I have a bit of the crafting/blogger blues.  I suspect I was more disappointed about the Spellbinder's team than I admitted to myself.  And also I have had this lovely distraction ....wedding and centerpieces.

I spent two days this week playing with wedding centerpieces, even though the wedding is not until 12/12!!  Yes, I am insane!   Crissie and Aaron will be visiting this weekend to do a bit of wedding business, so I wanted to show Crissie what I have been thinking in terms of her centerpieces.  I have convinced her to go with 1928 Depression Glass vases so I thought she might like to see them filled.

On Saturday we are going to view and make a decision on Sacred Heart Cultural Center as a venue.  Both Doug and I love it and think it would be perfect for their Scottish/Vintage wedding.  But the bride and groom get final say.

 Crissie's colors are red, white, black and a touch of silver.  That is why I used the cranberry tablecloth.  Her centerpieces will sit on vintage 17x17 inch napkins with vintage accessories, simple votive candles, and vintage framed table numbers.  We think red tablecloths in this venue will be beautiful at Christmas time.

Winter Wedding Card for Holly

Today I am sharing the card I made for a wedding I had planned to attend last Saturday.  The youngest child of my cousins Danny & Martha, Holly, married her beau, Andrew.  I have always loved Holly's name and it was fitting that the few photos I have seen from her wedding included springs of Holly.

Because Holly's wedding was set in the midst of winter I chose to use Spellbinders Snowflake Pendant and Label 16 to create a frosty winter wedding card.  Besides, I can use the practice playing with my Spellbinders.  I just hate that this nasty tummy thing made me miss Holly's wedding.

I used Spellbinders snowflake impressibility and embossed the front of a white card.  I then used the largest of my label 16 dies and cut out the shape from the front of the card. I then used the second larges label 16 die and cut a piece of silver cardstock, followed by using the next smallest die to cut out a red metallic piece of cardstock.  I adhered the layers together and added the center red snowflake and a silver snowflake charm to the card.  I backed the inside left side of the card with a piece of plain white cardstock in an effort to cover the layers.

I stamped the word Congratulations using a generic wedding stamp set and hand trimmed the phase to fit the spellbinder tag cut.

I used a combination of smooth red and silver metallic papers to cut out the snowflake pieces.  I layered the snowflakes together and attached them to the front of the card.

I finished the card with small snowflake stamps added to the inside of the card and as an accent on the envelop. 

I had several comments on my scraproom disaster area after yesterday's post.  I want to assure you all that I spent quite a while late yesterday afternoon cleaning and organizing my room.  It is almost back to normal.  Now if I could just get the rest of the house in shape.  I had a bad and lingering stomach virus last week so Christmas lingers in every room of my house.  That too is part of my Tuesday plan.

We have had quite a bit of winter this year in South Carolina.  Sunday night/Monday brought the latest round of winter to our area.  We received snow followed by ice.  It was quite pretty, but quite debilitating to the community.  Our area of the state comes to a complete grinding halt when we get bad weather.  But since I know not to venture out (the natives do not know how to drive in this) tomorrow looks like a good day to continue working in my scraproom.

Celebrity Weddings

2010 - a round number for the origin of family life. And what time, if not summer, suitable for the ceremony more than anything.

1. Country singer Carrie Underwood, 27 years old, and hockey player Mike Fisher, 30, were married July 10 in a modest circle of friends of 250 people. According to Carrie, which open up the magazine «PEOPLE» after the engagement, which took place on 20 December, the couple will have some time to roam between homes in Nashville and St. Petersburg, Ontario, until they get themselves a cozy nest. 2. Spanish actress Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have become not only oskoronostsami, but owners of cherished wedding rings. The celebration took place in July in the Bahamas. In 2008 Bardem, 41god, received a gold statuette for the film "Old men do not belong here", Penelope - in 2009 for Supporting Actress movie "Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona".

3. TV-show host La La Vasquez and the player's basketball team «Denver Nuggets» Carmelo Anthony decided to follow Carrie Underwood iMayk Fisher, got married, too, on July 10, but on 42 Street in New York. It was modest, but tasteful.

4. July 10 was still just a wedding boom for the stars, because that day was the wedding of John Krasinski and Emily Blunt held on 10 July at the Villa «D'este» in the Italian town of Como, away from the onlookers. Krasinski, 30, and Blunt, 27 years organized a classic wedding with a cream wedding dress and march, under which the bride went to her husband.

5. The same day, comedian Martin Lawrence and his common law wife Shamika Gibbs tied the knot. The bride did not have to choose the groomsmen, they were daughters Amara, 7 years old and Liana, age 9, and daughter of Lawrence's first marriage Jasmine, 14 years old. Celebration held in a narrow family circle.

6. Megan Fox, star of television series "90210" Brian Austin Green made June 24 the happiest day in my life, marriage, marry him.

7. June 16, 2010 Harrison Ford and Calista Flokrart received "stamps in the passport" in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Celebration held in the governor's house, who joined together married.

8. Actresses, Jane Lynch and Lara Embry, from the television show "Chorus", were married on June 6. Celebrating such a momentous event took place in the restaurant «Blue Heron» in Sunderland, Massachusetts.

9. Star of TV series «Beverly Hills 90210" and party show "Stars on Ice" Ian Ziering on May 28 was a married man, happy by Erin Christine Ludwig in Newport Beach.

10. May 23, largely in secret and away from prying eyes, Alanis Morissette married rapper Mario Tridvey "Souleye". On the wedding itself Alaniz said on its web page in one of the social networks.

11. Stars Deniell Harris and Jensen Eckles were married on May 15, after a three-year relationship, in Dallas, Texas.

12. Model Claire Grant became the lawful wife of the actor and comedian Seth Green on May 1 in a beautiful vineyard in northern California. One of the gifts from relatives were electronic piano. Maybe Claire wanted to start a singing career?

13. The comedian and star of the movie «Borat» Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher Australian actress from the movie «Confessions of a Shopaholic» exchanged vows on May 15 with the city of romance, city of lovers - Paris, in a small synagogue. The triumph kept secret and was attended by only a dear and close. October 19, 2007 in bride blessed future husband, giving birth to his daughter-crumbs.

14. Journalist «Weekend Today» Emmy overalls and a star series "Melrose Place, Andrew Shue became husband and wife in the winter: February 6 - exactly a 37 birthday bride. Such a gift. The ceremony was led mother of the groom, were personally written vows newlyweds.

15. British writer and model Sofia Dahl, 32, became the wife of the singer and pianist Jamie Callum, aged 30. Everything was organized in a great big secret. The celebration took place in the New Forest in Hampshire on Jan. 9, 2010. The bride was ethereal beauty in designer clothes from Versace, precious ivory. Sophie - the granddaughter of the writer, author of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Matilda." Hopefully, accustomed to the races, Sophie, find it and in family life.

What a fun weekend!!! My husband and I traveled to Charleston, SC for Megan's big Greek Wedding! The ceremony was held at a 100 year old Greek Orthodox Church in Charleston, and the reception was at the Holiday Alumni Center at the Citadel. The church was so beautiful with murals, stained glass windows, and candelabras... Just amazing. And the reception was so much fun.

We went with "My Friend Kathy (!) and her daughter Diana, my friend Beth, my son, and my daughter and her house-mate. Other than my son Aaron who was not having a great evening, the rest of us had great time. Good food, great drinks, and wonderful music and dancing. Megan's father's Greek band played and they were fabulous! If you want to know more about the event, just go rent "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", except picture it with THE MOST adorable bride ever... and without the chair bows and over the top tackiness and THAT would be our weekend!!!!

Today we had a Father's Day brunch with our daughter and two of her house-mates before we came home. It was at Vickeries on Shem Creek. What an awesome view of the water!!! Charleston is a truly beautiful city with so much to offer. If you are looking for a great place to visit... Think Charleston!!!
