A source reveals, "Genelia loved the subject and was ready to do the film. However, she laid down a condition: take Riteish opposite her.

She said that she wasn't comfortable with anyone else as co-actor. This left the producers dumbfounded."

Won't back down

The producers tried to reason with Genelia by telling her that the role didn't suit Riteish. However, the actress refused to back down and lost the film in the bargain.

Producer Subhash Singh of Hari Om Sai Production confirms that Genelia was approached for the project. "Yes, we were considering her.

However, things didn't work out and now we have Ayesha in the film. In fact, Jiah Khan, too, was interested in the script. We go on the floors this month."

Impossible demand

A source adds, "It was impossible for the producers to accept Genelia's condition. Hence they went ahead with Ayesha."

Though B-Town buzz is that Riteish and Genelia have been close since they acted in Tujhe Meri Kasam (2003) together, both have never admitted openly to their relationship.
